The Survivor of the Night

I am a survivor and courageous.
I wonder how people survive.
I hear birds chirping and leaves crunching.
I see trees swaying in the night sky.
I want shelter and food to eat.
I am the survivor of night.

I pretend to feel happy and smile.
I feel empty with no one near.
I touch the bark of a tree while I climb.
I worry that I will be alone forever.
I cry when I have to hide from humanity.
I am the survivor of night.

I understand that I do what I have to do.
I say that I’ll find people like me.
I dream of my happy family with a place to sleep.
I try to survive but it’s just too much.
I hope I can live alone.
I am not the survivor of night.
