Today I won an hour back
One of many lost by me
Taken aware but regretfully
Eyes closed, yet I could see
And with this newfound hour
Or rather, a minute of
I’ll sit at this new but now old desk
Looking for once, above
All is blank and white except
A solitary sprinkler, there
And when I look down, here is my flame
The candle it’s told to beware
That is the nature of those like me
We listen but never do
Though the world makes sense to us
We are the ones who change that, too
